In 1986, three years after leading the North Carolina St. Wolfpack to the NCAA men’s basketball national championship, Jim Valvano was in Richmond, VA to throw out the first pitch before a Richmond Braves-Maine Guides game. At the time Richmond was the AAA affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.

Valvano talked about his love of baseball, basketball and much more. I was broadcasting games for the Braves, along with the “Voice of the Richmond Braves,” Bob Black.
